I think the Texas libertarians have a different problem than the candidates for Washington office--that is, the US Republican party has become so big-government oriented that it is easy to differentiate oneself as a Libertarian. But the Texas Republicans are still relatively small-government oriented and the governmental mood in Texas is very small-government oriented, even among the left parties, so it's harder for a libertarian on the state or local level to state exactly what distinguishes him. My theory anyway.
